A .75 FLINTLOCK BESS TYPE TRADE MUSKET BY SARGENT & SON CIRCA 1835, no visible serial number, with 39" Birmingham proofed barrel having a fixed block front-sight bayonet lug, borderline engraved lock stamped "WARRANTED" on the tail and "SARGENT & SON" to the centre, and fitted with a ring-neck cock, regulation brass mounted full stock probably beech, with handrail wrist and high comb, the mounts include butt-plate, trigger-guard, wrist escutcheon, side-plate and four rammer pipes, replacement rod. The makers Sargent & Son were established between 1834 & 1837 at 74 Edmund St. Birmingham.
